Night City is getting another invitation for modders to show off what they can do, and this time there's a pretty substantial prize pool attached.
Nexus Mods has announced Cyberpunk Modathon 2026, offering £10,000 in prizes for new Cyberpunk 2077 creations. The overall winner receives £3,500, with additional awards covering themed submissions, a community favourite, and screenshots. Entry is free, and a Nexus Premium subscription isn't required.
The competition is aimed at genuinely new projects rather than updates to existing mods. Eligible entries must first appear on Nexus during the event and carry the appropriate competition tag. Creators can collaborate, and the themes are optional unless they're entering a specific themed category.
There's also an important clarification around AI-assisted development. Human-led projects that use AI tools may qualify, but the rules don't permit generative content or assets in submitted mods. Creators may need to provide development history showing how their work was produced.
The submission deadline is December 31 at 23:59 GMT, with community voting taking place afterward. Participants must be at least 18 and meet the competition's full eligibility requirements.
We're curious to see what comes out of this one. Cyberpunk already has a substantial modding scene, and a competition offering meaningful prizes could give creators an extra incentive to finally finish that project they've been working on.
