Night City is packed with people, but most pedestrians are little more than background noise. They'll wander the sidewalks, mutter something as you pass, and carry on with their day. Trying to have an actual conversation with one, though, usually doesn't get you very far.

Immersive NPCs, created by Adriansito (Suprt132), adds two interaction options to Cyberpunk 2077: Talk and Provoke. Eligible pedestrians can exchange a few words with V using existing character recordings, while provoking somebody can produce a considerably less friendly response. These aren't free-form conversations or AI-generated dialogue, just brief interactions that make the people walking around Night City a little more approachable.

Or a little easier to annoy.

Ordinary pedestrians may warn V before surrendering or running away, while provoking police officers or hostile characters can start a fight. The reactions have limits, though. Nobody's calling for backup or triggering a citywide response, and talking to an NPC won't change their attitude toward V afterward. Vendors and quest characters aren't part of the system, either.

It's a modest addition, and that's fine. Night City doesn't need every pedestrian to have an elaborate backstory. Sometimes being able to say a few words to somebody, or discover exactly how much patience they have for V's behavior, is enough to make a crowded street feel a little more alive.
