Remember the first time we got a proper look at Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2018? Night City looked incredible, the possibilities seemed endless, and that extended gameplay demonstration had a lot of us literally counting down the days until we could finally get our hands on it.
Of course, we all know how the launch went. But one thing that's always fascinated us is just how much of the game has changed between those early demonstrations and what eventually landed on our PCs (and consoles).
A modder known as Knonix has been busy revisiting one of those differences with E3 (RIP) 2018 allfoods restoration, a project that brings the All Foods factory closer to its original E3 appearance. We're talking redesigned interiors, familiar weapons, lootable containers, and environmental details inspired by the footage that first introduced us to that particular corner of Night City.
The restoration focuses on The Pickup, one of Cyberpunk 2077’s early missions involving the Maelstrom gang. It isn't a complete recreation of everything shown in 2018, but the creator has continued refining the experience, including a really cool electrical-box sabotage animation that brings another little piece of that old footage back into the game.
For those of us who followed Cyberpunk 2077 throughout its long development cycle, from those early demonstrations to launch day and everything since, there's a special kind of appeal to this sort of mod. It's almost like opening a time capsule in a sense, and getting to explore a version of the game that existed somewhere between the original promise and the product we ultimately received on day one.
