Geralt of Rivia has killed monsters, broken curses, saved kingdoms, and dealt with enough political nonsense to make anybody consider early retirement. He's also spent a ridiculous amount of time trudging through swamps, freezing mountains, and forests full of things that want to eat him.

So perhaps the poor bastard deserves a vacation.

Modder yotaxd has apparently decided that vacation should involve snowboarding. Back to the Future, a new side quest for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, begins with a noticeboard in Skellige and eventually sends Geralt into a separate, snow-covered world where he can trade monster hunting for a little recreational winter sports. There's even a board he can ride around on and tricks he can perform, because apparently the White Wolf has been hiding some athletic talents we never knew about.

The whole thing is delightfully ridiculous when you consider the game it's attached to. We're used to seeing Geralt investigate gruesome murders, negotiate with monsters, and occasionally get dragged into another one of Dandelion's disasters. Watching him carve his way down a snowy slope is a very different kind of adventure, and that's part of the appeal.

The creator has also used AI tools for some of the quest's music, artwork, and a character voice, something worth knowing for players who care about how fan projects are produced.

We're not entirely sure how Geralt would explain this particular adventure to Yennefer. Then again, considering everything else she's put up with, a little snowboarding probably wouldn't even make the list.
