Fallout 4's Dynamic Terrain Deformation finally lets the wasteland remember your footsteps

The Commonwealth has survived nuclear devastation, countless battles, and two centuries of people stomping around its ruins. You'd think the ground would occasionally show some evidence of all that activity. Asciim0v's Dynamic Terrain Deformation brings a more physical sense of interaction to Fallout 4, allowing footsteps, gunfire, explosions, and even bodies to leave temporary impressions in supported terrain. Marks gradually settle rather than remaining forever, while different surfaces determine how the effects behave. Add a compatible winter overhaul and things get considerably more interesting, with deep tracks through snow, environmental disturbances, and the possibility of leaving a visible trail of your recent misadventures.
The project adapts earlier Skyrim terrain-deformation work, with Nearmidnightnow and Josefplyr1 credited for their contributions to the underlying ideas. It also supports Fallout 4 VR, although several of the more elaborate effects remain desktop-only. Snow-covered landscapes require a separate winter mod, so don't expect this release to transform the Commonwealth into a winter wonderland on its own. Asciim0v also acknowledges a performance cost rather than pretending the additional effects are free. It's an ambitious visual addition that makes the world react to the player in ways static texture replacements simply can't.
