There's a good chance that longtime Morrowind players could find their way around Vvardenfell with their eyes closed. They know which roads lead to Balmora, where to catch a Silt Strider, and which parts of the wilderness are best avoided unless they're carrying a decent weapon and a healthy supply of potions.

But spend enough time with Morrowind Rebirth, and even those familiar places can start looking a little different.

The long-running overhaul from trancemaster_1988 has reached version 7.2, bringing another round of changes to the world of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Ebonheart gets some substantial attention this time, particularly the upper town around the castle. Several docks and Silt Strider platforms have also been reworked, while Dagon Fel receives a distinctive new watchtower and Gnisis gains a lighthouse. They're the sort of additions that can make revisiting an old location feel worthwhile, especially in a game where wandering off the road has always been half the fun.

There's more to collect along the way, too, including new artifacts, ingredients, amulets associated with Bloodmoon, and coins for players who enjoy collecting every odd little treasure they come across. Compatibility patches for Skyrim Home of the Nords and Project Cyrodiil are also included, accommodating players who've expanded their adventures beyond Vvardenfell.

Morrowind Rebirth has spent years reshaping a world that Bethesda originally released back in 2002. At this point, it's almost amusing to think that Ebonheart could still have room for another makeover. Then again, anyone who's spent enough time in Morrowind knows there's always another corner of the island worth poking around in.
