The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind’s waters are getting a little more crowded

Morrowind has never been short on strange creatures, but its underwater world could use a few residents that aren’t immediately interested in making you their next meal. Silrorj’s Underwater Fish adds harmless aquatic life to the game’s rivers, lakes, and seas, with different species appearing according to the surrounding environment. Salmon, trout, cod, and sturgeon are among the additions, while larger fish favor deeper water and smaller ponds get their own modest populations. Even the surrounding Tamriel projects receive regional variations, although the Bitter Coast’s swamps remain conspicuously fish-free.
The clever part is how the fish behave around the player. They appear outside your immediate view, wander through the water, and won’t simply vanish while you’re watching them. Silrorj has also designed the system around OpenMW rather than the original Morrowind engine, with support for several expanded landmasses when the appropriate content is present. It’s a small environmental addition, but one that could make diving beneath Vvardenfell’s waters feel a little less like exploring an enormous, suspiciously empty bathtub.
