Along the Way keeps the journey in Stardew Valley fast travel

Fast travel is convenient, but sometimes it feels a little strange to cross an entire game world in the blink of an eye while the clock barely notices you've gone anywhere.
Acharles1's Along the Way takes a more interesting approach. Players can establish their own travel markers, save favorite destinations, and plan journeys that actually consume in-game time. Those trips can also produce little encounters along the way, ranging from lucky discoveries and social moments to delays and unfortunate mishaps. Not every journey has an event, which is probably for the best. Sometimes you really do just want to get home.
The mod also offers travel to people you've befriended, with their locations checked again when you arrive. It's a neat compromise between the convenience of fast travel and the feeling that you've actually gone somewhere. For players who enjoy the slower, more personal side of Stardew Valley, getting from point A to point B might finally become part of the adventure instead of something to skip.
