Not every trip across Vvardenfell needs to involve an ancient prophecy, a Daedric artifact, or something trying to kill you. Sometimes a perfectly respectable adventurer just needs to make a few septims.

InigoCow's new Missives mod brings a little honest work to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, with publicans offering paid letter deliveries, merchant orders, and ingredient-gathering jobs. Rewards are laid out before you accept, and you can keep track of your assignments through carried notes or a handy spell. It's a nice excuse to revisit familiar towns, take the scenic route, and remember that there's a whole world going about its business while you're busy saving it.

There are a few things worth knowing before you volunteer for courier duty. Missives requires OpenMW 0.51 or newer, along with Morrowind and both expansions, and won't work with the original Morrowind executable. Tamriel Rebuilt publicans can offer jobs, although delivery destinations currently remain within vanilla Vvardenfell. Bounties and broader mainland support are on the creator's to-do list rather than part of this initial release.

Still, for anyone who enjoys simply living in Morrowind's world, there's something rather charming about having a reason to travel that doesn't involve another dungeon full of angry things.
