Fallout: New Vegas Build Mode Lets You Buy Property and Furnish It Your Way

For all the freedom Fallout: New Vegas gives you, settling down and making a place your own was never much of an option. Sure, you could stash your belongings somewhere, but rearranging the furniture? Decorating a room to your liking? The Mojave wasn't exactly known for its real estate opportunities.
Apparently, somebody decided it was time to change that.
Modder taylorinalaska has released New Vegas Build Mode, an early beta that lets players purchase five properties across the Mojave and furnish them using a catalog of roughly 1,100 objects from the original game. We're talking actual free placement, too, so you're not stuck choosing between a handful of predetermined decorations. Whether you want a respectable little home in Goodsprings or something considerably less respectable in Freeside, you've got room to make it your own.
The properties include locations in Goodsprings, Primm, Novac, Freeside, and the Strip, each with a little outdoor space to work with. You can move, store, or sell placed objects, along with much of the furniture and lighting already inside. And in wonderfully New Vegas fashion, getting started means finding a real estate agent hanging around outside Goodsprings General Store. Even after the apocalypse, somebody's still trying to sell you property.
Don't expect Fallout 4's settlement-building system transplanted into the Mojave, though. This is a smaller, property-based decorating mod, and it's still very much a work in progress. NPCs haven't learned to navigate around your newly placed furniture, so don't be surprised if somebody casually walks straight into your carefully arranged living room.
Still, after years of wandering the wasteland, having somewhere to put your feet up and decide exactly where the couch belongs sounds pretty damn appealing.
