Skyrim's trees have finally remembered what wind is

For a place with blizzards, mountain storms, and some fairly enthusiastic weather, Skyrim's trees have always been a little suspiciously composed. Their branches might move, sure, but the trunks often seem determined to stand perfectly still no matter what the sky is throwing at them. Kojak747's Windswept aims to make the landscape a bit more believable by giving 55 vanilla tree models a new way to respond to the wind. Pines, Rift aspens, snowy varieties, and even Solstheim's ash trees can now bend through their trunks and crowns, lending the forests a little more life without changing their familiar appearance when the weather settles down.
The nice part is that Windswept doesn't require SKSE, scripts, or a plugin, although it does depend on the original tree meshes. Replacers such as Happy Little Trees and Ulvenwald won't automatically inherit the animations, and Skyrim's default limit on animated trees may leave some distant vegetation unaffected. Players can raise that limit through an optional setting, but doing so comes with a performance cost. Kojak747 also offers a separate companion for animated distant tree LOD, which has its own requirements. It's a relatively small visual change, but anyone who spends more time admiring Skyrim's scenery than they'd care to admit knows how much those little details can matter.
