The golems in Late Game Golems are getting considerably more versatile. They can already serve as powerful companions, but the mod's latest update gives players more control over where they go, what they follow, and how they're equipped for a fight.

Creator Korog_3 has introduced a craftable Squad AI chip that lets a golem follow a living target selected by the player, along with Patrol AI chips that restrict movement to different ranges. Those additions should make it easier to give individual golems a particular job rather than relying entirely on their existing behavior.

There's also a new collection of weapons, including a phosphor gun and cannon, chainshot and grapeshot options, and some unusual melee equipment. The pickaxe deserves a special mention because it can actually break blocks while a golem is behaving aggressively. That's a capability worth remembering before turning one loose anywhere near something you've spent hours building.

The update also addresses a reported crash involving the Artifacts mod and improves rendering behavior for certain equipment.

It's a good expansion for a project built around increasingly powerful golems. More weapons are always welcome, but the new movement and targeting controls could be just as valuable to anyone who wants those mechanical companions to do something specific instead of simply following along.
