The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition Gets a Haunted Manor Mystery Near Riften

A hedge maze isn't exactly the most welcoming thing to find outside a mysterious old manor. Then again, when you're exploring Skyrim, a suspicious-looking estate practically begs to be investigated.

The Valeraine Inheritance, created by Olivanderz, introduces a haunted manor northeast of Riften, complete with a crypt, puzzles, and a story that unfolds through written clues and scripted scares. The adventure begins through a courier-delivered quest and takes players through 13 stages as they uncover the history of the estate.

Rather than simply adding another building filled with enemies and treasure, the mod puts its emphasis on exploring the manor and piecing together what happened there. The hedge maze and crypt give the property a little more variety, while the eventual reward, Aldric's Ward, provides a rechargeable damage barrier.

For anyone who enjoys Skyrim's darker little side adventures, particularly the ones where the location itself becomes part of the mystery, Valeraine Manor sounds like a worthwhile place to investigate. Just don't expect the grounds to be particularly hospitable.
