Cat Carry started with a simple idea: in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, you could pick up a house cat and take it with you. The update W1terr released this week is where that idea stops being only about cats. Carrying now works with chickens, rabbits, foxes and dogs as well, which turns a one-joke premise into something of a habit. Skyrim is full of animals players get oddly attached to and then have to leave standing in a field somewhere.

The other addition is the one that makes it feel less like a novelty. You can now hold a conversation with an NPC while still carrying the animal, instead of the game treating the two things as mutually exclusive, and there are settings for how the animal sits in your hands. The support has a clear edge, too. Modded pets only carry automatically when their skeletons or races line up with what the mod already understands, so the chicken from someone else's mod may or may not be portable. Fair enough. Not every chicken is.
