Roach gets sharper turns and fewer safeguards in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Geralt can face monsters without hesitation, but getting Roach to follow the exact line you want can be another matter. Precise Horse Controls gives players more direct control over the horse's movement, with quicker, tighter turning while trotting, cantering, and galloping. The creator also recommends steering with the camera while holding forward, turning riding into something closer to deliberate navigation than a negotiation with the game's assistance systems.
There's a meaningful tradeoff. The mod removes automatic stops at obstacles, including walls and cliffs, and increases jumping speed at faster gaits. That's welcome if you're tired of losing momentum on open roads, but the game will no longer protect you from every questionable riding decision. It won't make Roach safer. It puts more of the responsibility in your hands.
