There's only so much loyalty you can expect from a captured warlord after repeatedly sending them into dangerous situations. Sooner or later, somebody's going to decide they've had enough.

Warmesis, the Nemesis-inspired mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord from dontstay, is leaning much harder into that possibility with its latest update. Captured warlords can now be sealed and sent back into the world with orders to hunt rivals, raid enemies, climb the ranks, or keep a low profile. Push them too hard, however, and their loyalty can suffer. Betrayal is a very real possibility, while an increasingly suspicious Overlord might respond with purges, hired attackers, or interference in the arena.

The bigger addition is the opportunity to turn all that manipulation into an outright rebellion. Gather five sealed warlords, including one who's risen into the top six, and you can set a civil war in motion. Eventually, there's a stronghold assault and a confrontation with the Overlord himself. Claim the throne, and new opportunities open up to command warlords, collect tribute, and organize major raids.

It's a substantial expansion of Warmesis' original premise. Building rivalries and manipulating powerful enemies is entertaining enough, but watching those relationships develop into an actual struggle for control gives the whole system considerably more weight. You aren't just collecting enemies and allies anymore. You're deciding who might help you seize power, and who could turn against you before you get there.
