Oblivion's gear can take care of itself, for a price

Keeping a sword sharp and an enchanted weapon charged is part of Oblivion's rhythm, but repeatedly opening the maintenance menus isn't necessarily the fun part. Repair and Recharge Auto Maintenance uses the hammers and filled soul gems you're already carrying to look after equipped gear in the background.
The supplies still get consumed, skill-based repair limits still apply, and unequipped loot stays untouched. Repairs wait until combat is over, although a weapon can recharge during a fight when you aren't attacking. It's convenience without removing the underlying cost of keeping an adventurer's equipment ready.
