For all the romance, heartbreak, and complicated relationships in Baldur's Gate 3, some of the game's more affectionate moments can be surprisingly easy to miss. Larian recorded romantic reactions for companions who heal you or help you back onto your feet, but those lines aren't always heard during ordinary gameplay. The mod gives those performances another chance to shine with Native Romance Lines: All Companions, a mod that makes existing romantic dialogue available for all eight romanceable companions.

The idea is simple enough. When the game recognizes the required relationship state, a companion healing you or using the Help action to help you up can make an existing romantic response eligible to play. These aren't new conversations, AI-generated voices, or replacement performances. They're lines recorded by the original cast and already included in the game, with the mod checking the game's required relationship states to determine eligibility. The game still decides which response actually plays, so don't expect a heartfelt declaration every time a companion patches you up. Sometimes a healing spell is just a healing spell.

It's a small addition, but one that fits naturally into a game where relationships are such an important part of the experience. Players can spend dozens of hours getting to know their companions, navigating difficult conversations, making questionable decisions together, and occasionally falling in love with someone whose personal problems could fill an entire campaign. Those relationships develop through major story moments, but they don't suddenly stop existing when combat begins. Hearing a familiar voice respond affectionately while you're trying to keep everyone alive gives those established connections another opportunity to feel present during the adventure.

The mod also accounts for differences in how the game handles individual romances. Halsin uses relationship states that differ from those of several other companions, so the mod checks those conditions rather than treating a little flirting as proof of an established partnership. It doesn't initiate romances, advance unfinished relationships, or repair broken romance flags. The additional dialogue depends on connections the game already recognizes, which keeps the feature tied to the choices players have actually made.

The mod requires Baldur's Gate 3 on Windows and Script Extender 32 or later. Multiplayer behavior and Minthara's naturally partnered relationship state remain unverified. macOS and console versions aren't supported.

What makes Native Romance Lines: All Companions appealing is that it doesn't need to invent new romantic encounters to give the relationships a little more presence. The performances are already there, the characters already have their personalities, and the game already tracks the relevant relationships. The mod gives those familiar voices more opportunities to acknowledge it when they help your character. The creator discloses AI assistance with Lua code and some description text, but not with voices or visual assets.
