Subnautica has always encouraged players to think carefully about what might be lurking below their vehicle. TrevorTakahashi's DragonFly raises a considerably stranger question: what if your submarine could simply leave the water? The newly released vehicle is described as a flying submarine capable of carrying a Seamoth, potentially adding an unusual new way to explore the planet's oceans and whatever lies beyond them. Its circular-wing design certainly looks the part, even if the prospect of piloting a submarine through the sky takes a moment to wrap your head around.

DragonFly is still a fresh project. The available creator screenshots show its underwater exterior and interior, but don't independently demonstrate flight or Seamoth transport, so those capabilities remain TrevorTakahashi's reported features rather than something MNC has tested. Even so, the concept is an entertaining one. We've spent enough time worrying about what happens when our underwater vehicles sink. Perhaps it's time to start worrying about what happens when they fly.
