A multiplayer mod needs somewhere for its community to gather after launch week. Raising the Bar: Arena now has a continuously running European server, updated dedicated-server files and publicly available code, giving Half-Life 2 deathmatch fans more ways to keep the cut-content-inspired project alive.
The server rotates non-co-op maps with a few bots, while the code offers developers a basis for plugins and a look at Arena's lag compensation. That openness has a boundary: the art and other assets aren't automatically free to reuse. The team also announced a November 14 invitational with a $200 prize pool and eligibility conditions.
