Skyrim has never been particularly short on ancient ruins, but there's something especially unsettling about one waiting beneath a lake. Everglaid's SIRENROOT - Deluge of Deceit sends players on an Ayleid expedition below Lake Honrich, where flooded passages, environmental puzzles, and a fair amount of climbing are only part of the challenge. Dialogue and the people accompanying you play an equally important role, with decisions that can affect how the expedition unfolds and who survives it. It's a more deliberate, story-driven kind of adventure, one that asks you to pay attention to the company you're keeping as much as the dangers lurking around the next corner.

Everglaid estimates several hours of play, depending on how thoroughly you explore, and the quest begins by speaking with Frissa Black-Briar at Elgrim's Elixirs in Riften. SIRENROOT requires the free Ayleid assets distributed with Skyrim's November 2021 update, but not the paid Anniversary Edition bundle. One important word of caution: enhanced movement mods can interfere with progression, and Everglaid advises against uninstalling SIRENROOT once it's part of an ongoing save. For anyone who enjoys Skyrim's quieter mysteries as much as its battles, this is one expedition that deserves a closer look.
