Skyrim has no shortage of underground ruins, but every so often you stumble upon one that feels less like a dungeon and more like somebody's entire world. That's the appeal of Project AHO, the ambitious quest expansion from Haem Projects, the team of Dimonoider and gkalian. Hidden beneath Eastmarch is Sadrith Kegran, a secretive Telvanni community built into the remains of Dwemer architecture, complete with its own inhabitants, routines, mysteries, and complicated future. There's a substantial, nonlinear story waiting here, supported by dozens of locations, voiced characters, and additional quests. It's the kind of discovery that makes you wonder how much of Skyrim's history might still be hiding beneath your feet.

Haem Projects also filled the adventure with new equipment, spells, music, and even a playable Dwarven organ, because apparently an underground civilization needs a decent instrument collection, too. The quest begins around level 15 by visiting Mixwater Mill, and the project doesn't require SKSE or another external mod framework. There are some compatibility considerations, including an included follower that conflicts with its separately installed version and a reported crash involving Climates of Tamriel. Originally released in 2018, Project AHO remains a reminder that some Skyrim mods aren't content with giving you another place to explore. They want to give that place a life of its own.
