Campaign Reforged gives The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring less patient opponents

If you remember Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring, there's a decent chance you've been waiting a very long time for somebody to give its campaigns another look. Well, somebody finally has.

Transcendental's Campaign Reforged revisits the first three missions of both the Good and Evil campaigns, giving enemy armies more initiative and the maps more going on. Opponents recruit a wider variety of troops, expand their bases, upgrade their forces, and launch more aggressive attacks. Resources have also been redistributed to encourage movement and expansion instead of sitting comfortably behind your defenses until the enemy gets bored.

Only six missions have received the treatment so far, and the team has tested the release using the Russian-language version of the game. The ambition is to eventually revisit both complete campaigns, but there's already something appealing about returning to a twenty-three-year-old strategy game and discovering that the enemy has learned a few new tricks.
