Shepard's Weapons and Powers Go Hands-On in Mass Effect Legendary Edition's Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is the sort of shooter where you can be halfway through a messy firefight and still need a moment to decide which power will get you out of it. NOBLEIRISH404 has kept that little tactical pause alive in MASS EFFECT VR. Players choose biotic and tech abilities through a power ring and favorites cross, and time freezes while they make the selection. Even with a headset on, Shepard doesn't have to frantically fumble for the right power while everything keeps shooting.
The rest of the combat is a much bigger departure. The mod gives Mass Effect 2 in Mass Effect Legendary Edition a first-person, head-tracked VR view for Meta Quest, with weapons drawn from virtual shoulder and hip holsters. Shepard's hands will follow the controllers, and melee attacks become physical fist swings (which could make for a nice little personal workout). We have to say, literally reaching for a gun rather than selecting it from a conventional control scheme does sound like a pretty badass way to handle a familiar encounter.
The scope for the project is also pretty specific: this is for Mass Effect 2 only, not the entire Legendary Edition trilogy. The creator's retained documentation says development and testing were done on Quest 3S through Meta Quest Link, which must be the active OpenXR runtime for the mod to work. Players are also advised to back up the game with Mod Manager before installing, and as to be expected, the mod isn't compatible with other Mass Effect 2 player-camera mods.
It is worth keeping in mind that cinematic sequences and UI menus are not completely transformed into interactive spatial elements here. Instead, these moments render on a curved virtual display within the headset, keeping BioWare's cinematic framing intact rather than forcing every narrative moment into a native 3D view. The result is a neat hybrid experience: while you get to handle Shepard's intense firefights and hand-to-hand combat directly with your controllers, iconic story conversations still play out on a dedicated virtual screen.
