Eight years is a long time to spend planning an escape from Nova Prospekt. That's how long Quiet Rehabilitation has been in development, and now the Half-Life 2 mod from Tabajara77 is finally aiming for a November release on Steam.
Nova Prospekt was already one of the most unsettling places Gordon Freeman visited in Half-Life 2. Between the Combine soldiers, automated defenses, and the grim reality of what happened to the people imprisoned there, Valve made it somewhere you were more than happy to leave behind. Quiet Rehabilitation returns to that setting with a different story, sending Gordon along an alternate route that eventually leads him into the infamous prison. The project promises five chapters and roughly three hours of gameplay, offering more than a quick detour through familiar territory.
The redesigned City 17 prologue is complete, according to the creator, with voice performances, character choreography, achievements, and final polish among the remaining tasks. The project has also passed 6,000 Steam wishlists, a remarkable milestone for something that began as a small mapping project back in 2017.
There's still no confirmed release day, and Steam approval remains part of the process. But after years of development, Quiet Rehabilitation is approaching the point where players can finally discover what Tabajara77 has been building behind Nova Prospekt's walls.
