Half-Life 2's SourceWorld builds its maps as you go

SourceWorld's strange journeys through Half-Life 2 are getting a new kind of architecture. Rather than assembling its procedural spaces from props, the project now demonstrates generating and compiling actual Source maps during play, opening up more flexibility for lighting and level layouts.
The new approach builds connected rooms, corridors, vents and simple locked routes, with skylights that better suit the environments around them. Water, ladders and broader visual variety are still on the developer's list. This is a development milestone rather than a new playable release, but it addresses a constraint that shaped the existing demo's spaces.
