Skyrim VR's Physical Lockpicking Mod Lets Players Work the Lock With Both Hands

Picking a lock in virtual reality feels like something that ought to involve your hands. Not just navigating a familiar menu, but actually manipulating the tools, feeling for resistance, and trying not to snap another lockpick.
VR Physical Lockpicking, newly released by Stanislavsonder, takes that idea into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR by replacing the standard lockpicking interface with a physical interaction system. Players use separate VR controllers to manipulate a lockpick and tension wrench, with controller vibrations helping indicate when they've found the right position.
The creator has worked to preserve the underlying Skyrim mechanics, including lock difficulty, relevant perks, lockpick breakage, experience gains, and the consequences of picking locks where you shouldn't. The intention isn't to make every chest easier to open. It's to make the familiar process feel like something you're actually doing with your hands.
There are different control options, including a wrist-turning approach and a more traditional sweeping movement, along with settings for difficulty and feedback.
The creator is also unusually open about how the project was made, stating that it was developed entirely using AI agents and tested only on their own setup. That's worth keeping in mind when considering compatibility with different VR controllers or other mods. This is specifically a Skyrim VR release, not a replacement for the standard PC game's lockpicking interface.
For players who enjoy Skyrim VR because it lets them interact more directly with Tamriel, turning one of the game's oldest little minigames into a physical activity seems like a natural fit.
