RuneScape has an official plugin scene now. Jagex has launched an in-game Plugin Hub where players can find community-made plugins, and developers can submit their own through a proper channel instead of working around the game from outside it. The hub arrived carrying the plugins from the earlier beta, including Quest Helper, which guides players through quests step by step, and Tilemarkers, which lets players mark useful positions in the world.

The boundaries are part of the story. Every plugin has to pass Jagex review before it reaches the hub, plugins are not allowed to automate player actions, and everything they do stays on the client side of the game. Two more plugins, Clue Trainer and Ground Items, were still waiting on moderation at launch rather than joining the first group, which says something about the review being a real step and not a rubber stamp. For a game that has run for this long without an official route like this, the interesting change is not any single plugin. It is that community tools now have a front door.
