RAGE gets a high-resolution texture overhaul, but there's a color problem worth knowing about

Remember RAGE? Id Software's 2011 wasteland shooter still has a distinctive look, but its texture presentation can certainly show its age on modern displays. There's only so much nostalgia can do when you're standing two feet from a wall and the details aren't looking quite as impressive as you remember.

Wachhabender's RAGE HighRes-Texture Mod tackles that by using AI upscaling to rebuild the game's texture assets with finer detail. The project covers the single-player environments, The Scorchers DLC, and plenty of weapons, vehicles, characters, and objects. It doesn't include multiplayer maps, and the interface assets retain their original dimensions. There's also a meaningful caution here: the creator acknowledged an unwanted blue tint introduced by a second upscaling pass and discussed rebuilding the affected textures, but a completed fix hasn't been verified in the available research. You'll also want roughly 64 GB of free space and a backup of anything the installation overwrites. It's an interesting effort to preserve the look of an older id Software game at higher resolution, but one worth approaching with realistic expectations rather than assuming every texture has already reached its final form.
