Dismantling a spaceship is delicate work. Naturally, somebody has decided your friends should be allowed near the cutting equipment.
Scoutmegaman99's Shipbreaker Co-op brings multiplayer salvage operations to Hardspace: Shipbreaker, letting crews work together on cutting, dismantling, and hauling apart enormous spacecraft. The creator describes synchronized physics, explosions, ship controls, and tools, with two to four players as the intended group size and support stated for up to eight. If you've ever wanted to argue with a friend about who accidentally depressurized an entire compartment, congratulations... your opportunity has arrived.
There's a catch for anyone planning to work through Career mode together. Progression and money belong to the host, including purchases, salvage earnings, and cloning fees when somebody dies. Guests share the host's upgrades but don't advance their own careers. The documented multiplayer setup uses Steam, and everyone needs the mod installed. So choose your salvage crew carefully. Their mistakes could quite literally become your expenses.
