In the Naruto universe, somebody's eyes can tell you an awful lot about how much trouble you're in. Spot a Sharingan staring back at you and you might want to reconsider your next move. See a Rinnegan? Well, depending on who's wearing it, you might have considerably bigger problems. And let's face it, some of the coolest character designs in Naruto revolve around those ridiculous, overpowered eyes.

Universal Eye Selector, a mod for Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, gives players more freedom to customize those looks by changing the eye designs used by characters. Rather than being stuck with the appearance assigned to a particular fighter, you can experiment with different eye styles and create combinations that normally wouldn't appear in the game.

It's a particularly fun idea for a series where the Sharingan, Byakugan, Rinnegan, and their various evolutions have become such recognizable parts of the characters themselves. Imagine giving a familiar fighter a completely different set of eyes and seeing how dramatically it changes their appearance? You could end up with something that looks surprisingly fitting, or something that would probably make Masashi Kishimoto raise an eyebrow (or both).

This is a visual customization project, so don't expect swapping someone's eyes to suddenly give them another character's abilities. Naruto's eye techniques might be absurdly powerful in the anime, but here, we're talking about appearances only.

Still, for fans who enjoy experimenting with character designs, Universal Eye Selector opens up some very entertaining possibilities. And considering how much of Naruto's history revolves around people stealing, swapping, and obsessing over each other's eyes, it's almost surprising to us that nobody thought to make this easier sooner.
