The Cave Troll is now playable in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, massive mace and all.
Extra Heroes & Gameplay Improvements, created by The128ReBits, expands the game's playable roster from 11 characters to 17. The new additions include Gandalf the White, an Elven Warrior, an Elven Archer, a Rohan Captain, an Uruk Captain, and the Cave Troll. It's a fun selection, particularly if you've spent years fighting those enemies as Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. The troll even gets to throw rocks, giving players another way to cause trouble on the battlefield.
The mod also lets players customize character names and voices using existing recordings. It's a relatively small addition compared to the expanded roster, but one that gives the new characters a little more flexibility.
This isn't a standalone release. It builds on Gumpolas' community PC port and requires players to supply their own compatible copy of the original Xbox game. For fans of the 2002 classic, though, getting to revisit those battles as some of the characters you once fought is a pretty appealing twist.
