Old real-time strategy games can feel surprisingly cramped on modern displays, especially when higher resolutions do little more than enlarge the same old picture. asmox's KKND Xtreme HiResolution Mod takes a different approach, rendering more of the battlefield and offering selectable resolutions with pixel-focused scaling. The creator says some configurations can show up to four times as much of the action at once.
That's an appealing upgrade for a game where understanding what's happening beyond the nearest cluster of units matters. There is a firm compatibility boundary, though: the mod is designed for the GOG release of KKND Xtreme on Windows 10 or 11. Its launcher is intended to check the game executable before applying the changes rather than patching an unsupported version.
