Somebody made Grand Theft Auto: Vice City bounce to your music

Of all the things we expected to see happening in Vice City this week, cars and pedestrians rhythmically squashing and stretching to somebody's personal music collection were not especially high on the list.

And yet, here we are. TEK-95's ViceBounce takes the classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and gives it a delightfully absurd music-reactive visual effect. Import an MP3, FLAC, WAV, or OGG file and the mod analyzes the beat locally, then makes vehicles, pedestrians, and even cutscene characters bounce along. You can adjust the intensity, toggle different effects, and manually correct the beat when automatic detection gets a little too enthusiastic. A same-day update also tackled problems with the fullscreen music picker, although the creator is still looking for confirmation that the whole in-game workflow behaves properly. It's an early preview for the classic PC version, not the Definitive Edition, and it's exactly the sort of gloriously unnecessary idea that makes modding special. Vice City apparently wasn't ridiculous enough already.
