Driver: San Francisco has always had a pretty entertaining approach to driving around the city, especially with its ability to jump between vehicles in the middle of the action. Now PC players have another reason to revisit it, particularly if they've got a friend willing to grab a controller.

Restored Split Screen, created by F3nd3rB3nd3r, brings local two-player split-screen back to the PC version. Player two uses a controller, while player one can choose between a controller or keyboard and mouse. That means you don't necessarily need two gamepads to get a session going.

The creator has also experimented with Parsec, offering a possible way to share the local multiplayer experience remotely. Not every input configuration or remote-play setup has been confirmed, though, so it's best treated as an additional possibility rather than guaranteed online multiplayer support.

Installation involves replacing some game resources, so backing up the original files is recommended. There's also a reported rendering conflict with RTSS, which players using that overlay should check before installing.

We have a soft spot for split-screen multiplayer, particularly in games that originally offered it on other platforms. Being able to sit down with someone and share the same game without needing separate PCs or an online service is a feature worth preserving. Driver: San Francisco getting that option back on PC is a welcome bit of restoration work.
