Dino Crisis Modern Edition Smooths Out Regina's Return to PC

Dino Crisis has always had a way of making an empty corridor feel threatening. You know something could be waiting around the next corner, and the game's fixed camera angles aren't particularly interested in making you comfortable. It's part of what made Capcom's dinosaur-infested survival horror so memorable.
Dino Crisis Modern Edition, from Rotmill, is making that original experience a little more comfortable to revisit on modern PCs. The latest update introduces animation smoothing, additional options for reducing jagged edges, a higher frame-rate limit, and customizable quick-save and quick-load controls. It also fixes an issue that could leave gameplay at 30 or 60 FPS instead of the selected frame rate.
The project is based on the original PlayStation release rather than the later PC editions, requiring players to supply their own supported disc image. It's still receiving graphics fixes and adjustments, so don't expect every visual quirk to have disappeared. Existing users should also back up their saves before updating, as settings and controls will reset.
We like seeing older survival-horror games receive this kind of attention. Dino Crisis doesn't need its dinosaurs redesigned or its atmosphere reinvented. Making Regina's original adventure easier to enjoy on current hardware is a worthwhile improvement all by itself.
