Batman: Arkham Knight gets a cleaner look without losing its detective tricks

Gotham is already a pretty busy place visually. Rain everywhere, neon reflecting off everything, explosions in the distance, and Batman brooding so intensely he could probably generate his own weather system. Sometimes you just want to see the city without quite so many post-processing effects getting in the way.

Matt Bellew's Batman Smoother Knight offers a simple configuration preset that disables motion blur, chromatic aberration, bloom, and film grain in Batman: Arkham Knight. Interestingly, it deliberately leaves depth of field enabled because the creator says switching that off can interfere with some of Batman's detection gadgets. That's a sensible little distinction. This isn't a new graphics engine, a texture overhaul, or a proven performance booster, just an alternative visual presentation for players who prefer a cleaner picture. Installation involves replacing the game's settings file, so back up your existing configuration first. Batman may still be miserable, but at least your screen doesn't have to be quite so dramatic about it.
